Degas Drape

This unique vase is made from a flat sheet of Britannia silver, meticulously hammered and sculpted into shape, using the traditional techniques of hand-raising and chasing. The interior glows due to the treatment of the metal’s internal surface, which has a lemon gold gilding.
Inspired by the drape of fabric, this piece has a continuous flow of movement, as the fabric wraps its way around the body of the vase. The changing texture and undulations of the metal’s surface play with the light, creating shadows that enhance its form, which appear differently at every angle it is viewed from.
